With help from our partners, we continue to provide a sense of home to our children and Foster Parents.
We called in our extended family: six wonderful staff members from Swissôtel Chicago gladly rolled up their sleeves to help unload mattresses delivered by Tempur-Pedic.
The One Family Illinois model of care focuses on providing a sense of community and home to the children and Foster Parents in our Villages. Our Lockport Village, founded in 1993, was the very first Village community in the state of Illinois, and paved the way for two other Villages in Chicago communities. As the founding Village, the facilities and homes have aged over the years, but we work to continuously provide comfort and resources in order to make it a place to call home for the children who enter the homes.
We recently made greater strides toward this effort, thanks to a donation of Tempur-Pedic mattresses to our Lockport Village and our partners at Swissôtel Chicago for helping us successfully unload all 100 mattresses in a very short amount of time. The donation came as a result of a successful promotion by Tempur-Pedic and Ashley HomeStores Chicagoland: for every Tempur-Pedic mattress purchased at a Chicagoland Ashley HomeStore a Tempur-Pedic twin mattress was donated to One Family Illinois.
It was no small feat to unload each mattress in the brief 90-minute time frame allotted, but our friends at Swissôtel Chicago handled it as they do every time we have the pleasure of working together: with enthusiasm and passion.
Swissôtel Chicago does so much to help our children and families experience opportunities for growth and enrichment, from career days to summer camp to joyful holidays and learning about health and wellness. We are truly grateful to have such a dedicated and exceptional partner a part of our extended family.
