Once again, your support made the holiday season full of meaning and memories for our youth.
The 2016 holiday season was a truly memorable and exciting time for the children at One Family Illinois, full of celebration and the spirit of generosity.
We were fortunate to be able to gather in holiday celebration, courtesy of our partner Swissôtel Chicago, who hosted us on December 17, 2016. Volunteers from event sponsors Mosaic and Walton Isaacson led holiday games and activities, and members of the Emerging Leaders Board also helped with the family fun. The children enjoyed creating happy holiday memories with dancing, playing in the indoor bounce house, making holiday crafts, and visiting with Santa. Special thanks to Swissôtel Chicago for creating a winter wonderland for the children and families in our care.
Casa Tepeyac also hosted its annual Posada Navideña, sponsored by the Emerging Leaders Board, on December 20, 2016. We were thrilled to be joined by nearly 100 community members who took part in the posada procession, and about 250 participants at the posada celebration. The event featured music, piñatas, delicious Mexican food, and most importantly, the friendship and family that Casa Tepeyac builds in the Back of the Yards community.
Finally, we cannot express enough the gratitude we have for all of the donors to our 2016 Holiday Giving Program. Your generosity made it possible for every child in our care to open a gift during the holiday season. Thank you for showing the children that others are thinking of them and helping us teach them the power of generosity and giving.
