Sustainability Meets Sustainability
Rounding out the month of June, One Family Illinois was surprised with a special visit from Pritchard EV, which is a company that offers a seamless electric vehicle fleet supply. The Purpose Built crew, a team of Pritchard staff, as well as a team of videographers and photographers, rolled up in their all-electric, zero-emissions truck with a delivery for our children and families.
Stocked full of diapers, wipes, paper goods, and goodies for our kids, like crafts and coloring kits, the Purpose Built team unloaded the truck, and toured the Center, while learning more about our mission. We were excited to learn of their commitment to sustainability and shared details about the eco-friendly features of the Center.
The Purpose Built National Tour
The Purpose Built National Tour began in February of this year and by mid-September will have visited 19 U.S. cities. The Chicago Tribune shared an article about the importance of electric Workhorse trucks as companies like Amazon, UPS, FedEx and other owners of big delivery fleets like Anheuser-Busch have outlined strategies to cut their carbon emissions and shift to zero-emissions trucks.
The Tour promotes mobility and ensures that communities that have been economically hit the hardest can be stabilized and at the same time contribute to the sustainability movement. Additionally, by working with local nonprofits during the Tour, they are showing the capacity of the Workhorse and the benefits of delivering goods with zero emissions.
We look forward to the next time we can work with Pritchard EV, as together we see that going “green” is beneficial for society at so many levels. Making a commitment to building healthier and greener futures complements our sustainable model of foster care that stabilizes families, strengthens communities, and builds lasting change for future generations.
