With a bit of mist, a lot of sunshine, and over 300 real estate and construction industry professionals, Thursday, September 12th proved to be an amazing day dedicated to supporting children’s charities in the Chicagoland. As demonstrated in the past 16 years, neither pouring rain nor pleasant rays of sun could halt the friendly competition with at the Annual Charity Golf Classic hosted by nationally prominent real estate developer and industry leader, Related Midwest, and leading international property and infrastructure group, Lendlease.
“The golf outing is representative of Lendlease’s commitment to improving lives in everything we do, whether it be through safety in construction, community-focused development or, most importantly, the myriad charitable causes we support each year,” said Bert Brandt, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Construction in Lendlease’s Chicago office. “We’re proud to co-host this event with Related Midwest again this year and grateful for the all the contributions we’ve received from industry partners for these two very worthwhile causes.”
2019 Annual Charity Golf Classic
This year, the Golf Classic raised nearly $500,000 to financially impact three charities in the Chicagoland area: One Family Illinois, Saturday Place, and the Bruce C. Abram’s Foundation. As a 501(c)3 child welfare agency, One Family Illinois benefits greatly from the backing of the 70+ sponsors at this year’s Golf Classic which included Snadiero, AT&T Business, Amberleaf Cabinetry, and more.
“Under the leadership of Related Midwest, LendLease, and the many companies who participate in this incredible golf outing, a new standard of corporate social responsibility has been set,” said Tim McCormick, CEO of One Family Illinois. “Their commitment to marshal resources for the betterment of our communities is a remarkable gesture that reminds our children of their value. We are grateful for their ongoing support that allows us to do the important work of strengthening families and transforming lives.”
During this year’s Golf Classic, teams split up to participate in competitions such as “closest to the pin”, “hole-in-one”, “circle game”, “fast hole”, and the “longest drive challenge”. This cordial competition toward benefiting others goes to the very core of the work the construction industry does, such as co-host, Related Midwest. “For Related Midwest, real estate development and community development go hand in hand,” said Don Biernacki, Senior Vice President of Construction for Related Midwest. “I’m honored to join so many friends and colleagues to support One Family Illinois and Saturday Place and help families and children across Chicago.”
Committed to Supporting Youth in Need
Since its inception in 2004, the Golf Classic has donated nearly $2.9 million to various children’s charities. Corporate initiatives such as these are critical for One Family Illinois, as we continue uniting brothers and sisters in foster care under the care of full-time, professional Foster Parents in one of our Village communities. We offer sincere gratitude to Related Midwest, Lendlease, and all participating business supporters. With your help, we are able to provide at-risk children safe spaces to grow, heal, and achieve their permanency goals.
