One Family Illinois youth received a valuable introduction to career tools and resources, thanks to Specialist Staffing Group Chicago.
At One Family Illinois we don’t consider opportunities for development and growth for our youth only while they are in our care. We know the importance of providing our children the tools they need long after they leave the Village.
That is why we are grateful for opportunities to give them information and advice they can really use at events like Specialist Staffing Group’s recent Interactive Career Day.
On October 10, 2016, a group of seven youth from our Lockport Village, ages 14-17, participated in a day of career-focused workshops at Specialist Staffing Group Chicago’s office.
Our youth learned some very important lessons, including: information on the best resources for jobs within certain fields; the fundamentals of completing job application forms; a solid understanding of what a resume is and how best to create one; and finally gaining invaluable insight into interview best practices and having a chance to practice them at a mock job fair session.
Corporate partners like Specialist Staffing Group help us ready our youth in making the important decisions they face after high school or college graduation. With a combination of hands-on learning opportunities like this career day and backing of programs—like our College Bound and Beyond Program—that engage students through every step of learning, we see outcomes like a 100% high school graduation rate and our graduates planning for their futures. In fact, all of our most recent graduates in 2016 moved on or are planning to pursue post-secondary education within the next year.
