The events of the 2021 Chicago Regatta, held on Saturday, September 11, once again were altered to fit the pandemic, similar to last year, with the addition of a few new events to this year’s lineup. Yet, the core purpose of raising funds for three Chicago area charities remained front and center. The Chicago Regatta proved the event serves as a showcase for the waterfront community’s shared generosity, love of the water, and compassion for children.
The Chicago Regatta Presented by Wintrust hosted a number of on-water events for boaters including buoy racing, a distance race, a sunset lighted boat parade, and a DragonForce model boat racing. Additionally, the Chicago Yacht Club held a silent auction and the legendary Sweet Home Chicago dock party featuring both remote and in-person options for everyone’s comfort and safety.
The collective generosity of the Chicago Yacht Club’s waterfront community has grown throughout the years and includes both monetary support, as well as education opportunities for our youth. The Chicago Yacht Club provided a day of fun for all boaters to contribute to the well-being of children, while celebrating the boating community that enriches lives.
The regatta benefited One Family Illinois, the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital, and the charities supported by the Chicago Yacht Club Foundation.
The Chicago Regatta remains the showcase and celebration of the waterfront community’s shared generosity, love of the water, and compassion for children.
One Family Illinois feels immensely grateful for the generous support of the Chicago Yacht Club leadership and members, and for Wintrust’s investment in youth and families. This year’s event raised significant funds for One Family Illinois, which will go directly towards benefitting the programs and services at One Family Illinois.
